Efficient Thinking Solutions was engaged to review the viability of programme to deliver seven enabling technology projects and re-establish staff commitment. The University had previously commissioned a well-established consultancy to deliver the programme. The programme had stalled and working relationships with the consultants had broken down at all levels.
What we did
University staff were understandably cautious to begin with so we had to work swiftly to build their trust. We set out our vision for the programme and the benefits we felt it could deliver and allowed them to challenge our ideas in a series of very open and honest, workshop based, discussions.
Once everyone was on board we ran workshops to review work done to date and assessed each project against the needs of students and system users to ensure they were still viable and met the exacting service standards required of them.
Positive relationships with the senior leadership team were quickly established, as was the commitment of our preferred technology partner, internal process owners and project staff to delivering new ways of working. Turn round was achieved within a ten week period and the programme was duly re-instated, delivered by University staff throughout 2016.
The delivery approach recommended by ETS prioritised the sequence of projects and enabling actions, endorsed by stakeholders as achievable and realistic. Their delivery style was energetic and inspiring. Staff involved have all provided excellent feedback on their experience.
