The brief:

Delivery of an innovative global programme of interactive workshops to introduce Lean Thinking to a US based operating centre.

What we did:

We introduced lean thinking methods to 11 teams and a total of 120 staff. Each of the 18 training modules focussed on a different aspect of lean and continuous improvement. Support was tailored to meet the specific requirements of each team and delivered via a combination of formal classroom based training and practical guidance. Working in three week cycles, 3 modules of training were delivered in week 1 followed by a further weeks mentoring support in week 2. The final week assessed the changes each team had implemented as teams applied their skills in the workplace.

The result:

Having had no previous exposure to Lean process improvement techniques staff became confident Lean practitioners in just 3 months. Our approach resulted in US operations achieving the highest uptake of lean, as independently assessed from the 200 teams that were involved globally.
